Software - Tools

General Introduction
Communication via Infrared is easy and useful, yet most times it is depending on the right drivers and the right software. Exactly there our offers all about "Software and Tools" come in place. We especially feature infrared solutions as:

Drivers for
  • Windows 2000
  • WindowsNT
  • Useful software for
  • Nokia Mobile Phones
  • and others. Drivers and Operating System Tools
    WindowsNT:
Microsoft obviously thought that an Operating System for Servers wouldn't need "infrared toys". Therefore WindowsNT comes totally without any support for infrared adaptors and infrared communication. Now ExtendedSystems (www.extendedsystems.com) or rather their subsidiary Counterpoint developed IrDA-Stacks and -layer for WindowsNT, which are available as the "QuickBeam Suite for WindowsNT" (latest version: 3.4). We offer to download that software for a price of 89,00 DM (incl. German VAT), or we also ship that software on CD-ROM for an additional 10,00 DM. For details about that software (and how to order it) you are invited to read our QuickBeam-Pages.

    Windows2000:
Win9x provided not only the IrDA layers but also so-called "virtual COM Ports". Many software products relied (and still do) on these virtual COMs to communicate with infrared mobile devices. Either they expect to find a cable attached to a serial port, or they at least need the virtual COM, which then sits on the physical infrared interface, using the IrDA stacks.

To Windows2000 however, virtual COM Ports are unknown!

We now offer the software solution IrCOMM2000. Using these drivers you are able to create the often needed virtual COMs even under Windows2000. This functions with our serial adaptors (ACTiSYS - IR220L+, MobileAction - MA600) and also with the USB versions (ACTiSYS - IR2000U[S], ExtendedSystems).

You can download IrCOMM2000 directly from ExtendedSystems, but you have to pay immediately with credit card (www.extendsys.de - Total 17 USD). We also distribute the software, but on CD-ROM. If you'd prefer to have a CD-ROM shipped to you, we can arrange that for a Total of 69,00 DEM.

    WinME:
WinME comes with the same problem as Windows2000: There are no virtual COM ports installable. While you can use a workaround for all serial infrared adaptors (Registry Hack, see also Virtueller COM unter WinME), there does exist a fitting driver for our USB versions of the mobile infrared adaptors of ACTiSYS. You can download the latest driver either from www.actisys.com or from our download page for USB/FIR adaptors.

    Applications
    LogoManager:
LogoManager is the best tool you can get for "administrating" and organizing your mobile phone from Nokia. You can access all functions, even enabling the Netmonitor, and that either via infrared or data cable.
